Can you believe that June is almost over?! I feel like this month just got started. It’s been such a fun & busy month in my neck of the woods, and I’ve been able to read some really good reads! I managed to finish these three books and I’m about to tell you why you need to read them ASAP.
How to Stop Feeling Like Sh*t by Andrea Owen
This book was such a game-changer for me. As you can tell by the title, there is swearing throughout the book, so be fore-warned. But, it was a REALLY good read. Owen breaks down the 14 habits that women, specifically, tend to do, without us even realizing it, that can contribute to our unhappiness. I learned so much about myself – how to replace negative thoughts with more positive ones, how to better communicate with those around you, being more aware of my behaviors and how they’re affecting me – I mean, the list goes on and on. I’m actually going to do an entire blog post just about this book for Pineapples & Grace, so be on the look out for that! I would highly recommend it for anyone. Even if you feel like you’re at a good place emotionally/mentally/etc., I’d still recommend it. You’ll more than likely learn something about yourself and where you can improve. That’s definitely a win in my book (ha, #puns).
When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
When Dimple Met Rishi is a YA Fiction book (#guiltypleasures) and I couldn’t put it down. It tells the story of two Indian-American 18-year-olds, Dimple and Rishi, who meet at a summer coding program. Dimple thinks she’s going to the coding program to learn, and Rishi thinks he’s going to meet his future wife. Their parents had arranged for them to meet and date, and eventually marry, except Dimple’s parents never told her about the plan. So her first impression of Rishi leads her to believe he’s a stalker (I won’t spoil anything because I honestly thought this part was hilarious). All in all, it’s a captivating and adorable take on arranged marriage that warms your heart.
Kind is the New Classy by Candace Cameron Bure
As soon as I read the intro to this book, I was hooked. Candace has the kindest heart I’ve ever come across, and I don’t even know her personally! It just shows through what she says and does. Each chapter talks about something that has to do with kindness – how to practice kindness when you’re in a hostile situation, ways to be kind to yourself, choosing your friends wisely, etc. There are so many gems in this read, and you absolutely need to read it ASAP. It was truly refreshing.
That’s a wrap on my favorite reads from this month! Next on my list is Elon Musk (already started reading it and can’t put it down)!
What are you reading right now? Tell me in the comments!
