Photographing your moments in San Francisco, California

I’ll be honest, when I realized that we’d be staying at home more often for a few weeks, I got really excited and immediately bought two new books (Atomic Habits & Storybrand). If I’m going to have more time on my hands, you bet I’ll be reading more. Might as well learn something and enjoy some downtime simultaneously, right?

If you’re looking for some new reads to enjoy during this season, here are some of my faves:

Atomic Habits by James Clear

I’m currently reading this one and love it so much! The stories that James includes in each chapter are so intriguing, and help drive home his points. I’m already thinking of ways I can stack habits (a theory he breaks down in the book), am paying more attention to habits I may need to alter, and dreaming up new ones I want to begin incorporating.

Everything is Figuroutable by Marie Forleo

If you haven’t read this one yet, now is a better time than most! Marie is your ultimate hype girl, challenging you in a way that makes you feel good about yourself. She provides writing exercises at the end of each chapter, which are incredibly helpful in propelling you forward in your life and business. I recommend this one to everyone.

How to Get Sh*t Done by Erin Falconer

This has been a top rec for me since I binge-read it last year in a season of ultimate burnout. Whether you’re feeling burnt out or just want to experience better time management & productivity, you’ll love this one. Despite the title, there’s really not that much swearing involved. And if you’re willing to get past that, Erin provides more insight than most books I’ve read. Plus, she’s hilarious and tells personal stories that have you laughing the whole way through (in-between the “ohmygoodness that’s genius!!” exclamations).

Get Out of Your Head by Jennie Allen

One of the most timely books I’ve read, yet. Jennie writes about the toxic thoughts we have that lead to spirals, and how we can begin to reverse them. The really cool part about this book is it’s faith-based. Jennie ties in scripture and scientific facts on how the brain works, which was such a cool combination to me!

Chasing the Bright Side by Jess Ekstrom

The first page in I was laughing out loud more than any other book I’ve read. Jess is so witty, positive, and encouraging; reading her book was the highlight of my weekend (and yes, I binge-read it in 1.5 days – it’s that good). Jess tells stories of her childhood that shaped her and lead to her founding Headbands of Hope, an organization that gives headbands to children with cancer. She has such a light about her, and it shines through the pages as you read. It’s a delightful read, one that will fill you up with warmth inside.

To Hell with The Hustle by Jefferson Bethke

I love Jefferson’s books and this one is probably my favorite of all. It’s a quick read, the chapters are short and draw you in (you should see how much is underlined in my copy). Jefferson gently calls us out our hustle lifestyle, and gives some alternative solutions to follow. One of my favorite suggestions he gave is the act of shifting our approach to “goals” by instead using “formations.” He explains:

“One is about the end. The other is about the present.

One is about doing. The other is about being.

One is about results. The other is about process.”

It’s an incredible read, and will alter that way you think about (and approach) your work and life.

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

It took me way too long to hop on this bandwagon, and once I did I was hooked. This book is so good!! The ending!!! That’s all I’ll say, no spoilers I promise. Delia writes the story of a young girl who lives in the Marsh in the Carolinas. She grows up learning to take care of herself, not fitting in with the social norms, and more importantly: never giving up. There’s love, there’s mystery, and there’s surprise. It’s incredibly good.

Okay, now it’s your turn!! Obviously I’m a bookworm and I’m always looking for my next read. What are your favorite books? Tell me in the comments!

  1. […] It’s been incredible to see how innovative everyone has been, and I love how so many entrepreneurs are shifting their mindset and approach more towards service. I’ve invested in a few online programs and webinars to learn new skillsets, and sharpen some current ones! I’m also reading more books, which you all know is my favorite thing ever. (Ps, just did a post on my favorite books over here!) […]
