“What does God say about money”, is a question I’ve been asking myself on repeat for the past few years.

What’s His stance on it? Is it okay to earn a lot of money? Is it wrong to?

Turns out, God has a lot to say about money. There are over 2,000 verses in the Bible about the topic, and (plot twist!) it seems to be one of His favorite topics.

There’s SO MUCH on this topic, and it’s hard to know where to start. It’s a fascinating subject to me.

A lot of what I’ve learned has surprised me, and I’m betting it’ll surprise you, too.

Here are the biggest takeaways I’ve learned about God & money so far:

IT’S NOT MY BUSINESS, IT’S GOD’S BUSINESS.

The moment I heard this mindset shift, the entire game changed for me. God has given you and I this incredible gift; being able to run our own businesses and pursue these God-given dreams with no abandon. When we bring all the glory back to Him and keep Him center, there is nothing but peace and fulfillment that comes.

Approaching your business as “God’s business” gives Him complete reign over what He can do; the possibilities are endless. Go ahead, give it a try.

GOD OPERATES OUT OF ABUNDANCE.

That nine-letter word is thrown around so much these days, it’s easy to believe it’s human-originated and not God-ordained. Think about it: God has everything He needs. There is nothing He can’t create, make happen, or inspire. He has & can create ANYTHING at the end of His fingertips.

Isn’t that the definition of abundance?

God WANTS to give you gifts. He wants to provide for you, open up doors, and share in all that goodness.

I recently finished listening to the audiobook God & Money, an intriguing listen if you want to learn more on this subject, and there was a quote at the end that grabbed my attention:

“To embrace a mindset of abundance is to trust in God for our provision, offer gratitude for His blessings, and generously share those blessings with others.”

If you really want to experience abundance in your life, try asking God for it instead.

YOU CAN’T TAKE CARE OF OTHERS
IF YOU’RE NOT TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF

Especially financially.

I heard a quote recently that went, “Money doesn’t make you a good or a bad person – it just enhances the person who you already are.”

Generosity is one of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself and others. Most times we think of money when we think of giving generously, but generosity is not limited to finances.

If you don’t have enough money to pay for your own bare necessities (food, rent, clothes, etc.), it’s unrealistic to pay for someone else’s. That does not make you a cold-hearted person. This also doesn’t mean you can’t do anything to help that person. You can give your time, connections, prayers, and so much more that isn’t directly tied to finances.

And, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that you should never give to others financially.

What I am saying is: make sure your life vest is on before you give someone else theirs, otherwise you will both sink.

Build up an emergency fund that will keep you taken care of if you run into unexpected expenses. Once that’s built up, build up a giving fund so that you can cheerfully give to others without worrying how you’re going to make it back.

Like I’ve mentioned before, money is a gift from God. Deeper than that, it’s a way we can bless others. If we want to be able to give freely, we need to steward our money well. And that means building up our own means so that we can be of even greater service to others.

There’s so much that I’m still learning about God’s view on money, but this year has shown me more than anything that He will always provide for His children.

The last thing I want to leave with you is this:

GOD WANTS TO PROVIDE FOR YOUR BUSINESS, TOO.

I’ve found that when I begin to pray to God for different sessions to become booked, they fill up. He always provides.

You want to book more clients? Pray to God about that. They’ll come.

I’m curious, what was your biggest takeaway from this post?
