I still feel like I don’t quite have the words to describe this year’s workshop. These girls filled my heart so that it was overflowing with so much gratitude, and I am truly humbled that they wanted to learn from me. We met in Indianapolis where we all stayed at the cutest airbnb. 10 girls come from all over including Boston, New Jersey, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, and London. And in no time at all they were all bonding, laughing together, encouraging each other…it was such a special thing to be a part of.
Here’s a short video re-cap of the workshop! (Film created by Jessi Snapp)
On day 1, we kicked things off with Starbucks for everybody (is there any other way?) and after some introductions we got right to it. I talked about marketing to your audience and gave my insight on how to do that strategically and effectively.
Then my biz bestie Sam (@rootingforyousocial) shared about outsourcing and websites! It felt so in-depth even though for her she was just scratching the surface! So, so informative!!
Then we got ready for lunch!
So grateful for Joni who prepped all of our meals for us!!
And for Jessi, who created the film you watched at the beginning! Still can’t get over how good it is!!
After lunch, I gave a few pointers about boudoir before we started photographing our boudoir styled shoot! Huge thanks to Bootaybag for providing the products!
After our styled shoot, my friend Liv came to talk with us about taking care of our mental health as business owners! She’s a health counselor at Indiana University and gave some pointers on setting boundaries and different actions we can take to make sure we’re taking care of us so that we can better care for our clients. Such a valuable segment.
And then her and her boyfriend Jim modeled for our in-home couples session! SO CUTE!!
That was a wrap for day 1! We ended the night with pizza and everyone got to work editing their photos from the day while enjoying movie night.
Day 2 started off with a delicious breakfast and then I taught on how to get started with boudoir, cultivating a quality client experience, and the hot topic – pricing & managing finances for your business! We covered a lot that morning!
After we were finished with courses, we had our last lunch together before heading off to tour the Kiss Album factory (not the band, ha!) Kiss is the album company that I use for all of my wedding & boudoir albums and I LOVE them! They’re locally based in Indy so we were able to tour their warehouse and see how all of the albums are made by hand. I was totally geeking out over the whole process and all the girls seemed to enjoy it, too! I don’t have any photos from this part, so you’ll just have to take my word for it!
Next, we went to Mavris Art Center where our wedding styled shoot was being hosted. I have to give a HUGE thank you to Amanda from Dovetail Weddings; she organized everything having to do with this styled shoot! The girls kept asking me what they should expect when we got there and all I could tell them was, “I’ll be just as surprised as you will be!” Amanda truly knocked it out of the park and I’m so grateful for her.
Before we got started with the styled shoot, my girl Tori Hook (who took the majority of these behind the scenes photos!!) shared with us how to take a good flatlay photo. It was so fun to hear and watch her process!
I’m so grateful for each and every one of these girls!! My heart is bursting again just looking at this photo of all of us, definitely printing it and hanging it on my office wall. LOVE YOU GIRLS!!
